Amtrak does not stop at Metuchen, instead
you typically want to go to Metropark, then either take a cab, or take
NJT one stop (away from New York) to Metuchen.
Take your plane to Newark Airport (EWR).
Take the AirTrain to the Newark Airport train station. Take New Jersey Transit away from New York to Metuchen.
Driving Instructions: There are several different options depending on where you are driving
from.
- Manhattan via Hudson Bridges and Tunnels or NJ Turnpike.
Cross the Hudson via your bridge or tunnel of choice. Follow
signs to take you to I95 (New Jersey Turnpike) South. Go to exit
10. After paying toll, go to the left lane and stay in that lane
(absent construction) for a long time through all of the twists
and turns. It will become the right lane and will then join I287.
You are NOT required to merge. Stay in lane until you see the
exit 2A for NJ 27 North/Metuchen (it will be exit immediately
before the Exit-Only for that lane). Continue on NJ27--the street
you exit onto until you pass under two train bridges and get to
Rose Street. Rose Street is the street before NJ27 makes a left
turn, you will see a big yellow sign indicating the turn of NJ27
where Rose Street is. Turn left. Proceed to the second to the
last house (green) on the left.
- New York via 278 BQE/Outerbridge
Crossing. Take 278 South. Pass over the Verrazano Bridge
(getting into the left lanes after the toll), continue on 278
until you reach 440 South (to the Outerbridge Crossing). Take 440
South, cross the Outerbridge Crossing (still on 440). Continue on
440 as it passes I95 NJ Turnpike and turns into I287. Get into
the right lane and exit for NJ 27 North/Metuchen. Continue on
NJ27--the street you exit onto until you pass under two train
bridges and get to Rose Street. Rose Street is the street before
NJ27 makes a left turn, you will see a big yellow sign indicating
the turn of NJ27 where Rose Street is. Turn left. Proceed to the
second to the last house (green) on the left.
- From North NJ via Garden State Parkway.
Take GSP South to exit 131 (Metuchen). Turn right on Route 27.
Stay on Route 27 around three miles. Route 27 (aka Middlesex Ave)
will make a left turn to and be known as Lake Ave. Take that left
turn. Continue under the train tracks and over the small bridge.
Route 27 will take a right turn and be known as Essex Ave. Take
that right turn. Then take the immediate right after that onto
Rose. Proceed to the second to the last house (green) on the
left.
- From South NJ via Garden State Parkway.
Take GSP North to exit 127 (Woodbridge). Follow signs for I287N
aka RT 440S. Once on I287N/RT440S, continue a little over 4 miles
to exit 2A (Metuchen RT 27N)--it will be exit immediately before
the Exit-Only for that lane. Continue on NJ27--the street you
exit onto until you pass under two train bridges and get to Rose
Street. Rose Street is the street before NJ27 makes a left turn,
you will see a big yellow sign indicating the turn of NJ27 where
Rose Street is. Turn left. Proceed to the second to the last
house (green) on the left.
- Via 287S. Take I287S to exit 3
(CR501/Metuchen). Take left on New Durham Road. Continue on New
Durham Road for 1.2 miles. New Durham Road will make a left with
a smaller road with a "Dead End" sign will continue on (Memorial
Parkway). Ignore the "Dead End" sign and continue straight onto
Memorial Parkway, proceeding slowly and carefully under the train
tracks, then make a right on Rose at the dead end. Proceed to the
second house (green) on the right.
